Granola Gourmet and a little Giveaway!

With the new year moving vastly! Most of us vowed to eat Healthier!

 I am one of those people.

Most of you who read my fun filled little blog, know I'm always in search of healthy eating for me and my family.

There is a Diabetic, Celiac, Crohns and a Wheat allergy among us.

I had the opportunity to try a new product, that is healthy for you! One that would be good for all of us.

As I researched the company on their website Granola Gourmet I found out great things about the company and how they came to be. The have lots of information for Diabetics and even a Diabetic blog.

The founder Jeff Cohen is a Diabetic and was having trouble finding snacks that met his needs as a diabetic.

Jeff and his family came up up with their own solution and got busy in the kitchen and created healthy snacks. Not just for him, but his entire family! A wonderful idea!

Their products are Kosher, NO Wheat,No Dairy Energy Bars that are High in Omega 3's and Whole Grains. Granola Gourmet bars are 100% natural and made with 75% organic ingredients.

Another great thing about this company , A portion of your purchase goes to help The American Diabetes Assoc. and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 

I was able to try 4 flavors! Ultimate Cran-Orange, Ultimate Berry, Ultimate Fudge Brownie & Ultimate Mocha Fudge. I have to say, I really liked them. They were very tasty! My favorite was the Cran-Orange. I did a ton  of Gardening this weekend and munched on a couple of these bars for snacks. I didn't feel to full and they gave me great energy. My kiddos even enjoyed them! I gave them all samples to try! 2 liked Mocha Fudge and 1 liked the Ultimate Berry and the hubby liked the Fudge Brownie!

Recycling Fences for my future Tomato harvest!

This time of year Homeowners are doing repairs to thier homes and leaving thier old and tired lumber on the side of the road. Their trash becomes my future Recycling project! In this household we are in full garden prep, planting and seed sowing mode. I couldnt do it without the two awesome men in my life, my husband and my son. Although, they are not always eager to go hunting in junk piles and building my latest ideas! They do enjoy seeing thier final product and always look proud at what they have just made for the garden and for me. In the end they know its for a good cause, Moms Garden. They know come summer time, they will be eating delicous home grown veggies!

Here is some of the wood my husband cut using his table saw to make points on my future tomato stakes!

Here is the area my Tomatos will grow. I have small Tomato plants awaiting thier future Trellis's.

In this area I used Organic compost, rabbit poo and some top soil to prep my tomatos future living space.

Here is the design my husband helped me with. They look like little ladders. I like the look of the wood. It makes it look vintage. I can not wait to see the tomato plants all grown up and filling out this structure.

We hammered the Trellis's anout 4 inches deep into the dirt. I am hoping these structures will hold my Tomato bounty of Mortgage Lifters and Big Boy's.

Wonderful Wednesday Contest!

Today at The Gardening Spot, Allsop Home Garden is giving away a free product to 1 of my lucky readers! Would you like to  know what it is? Well then, I think you will have to keep reading to find out!

Recently, I was asked by Allsop Home Garden to review a couple products and let them know what I think! They sent me Write & Erase Plant Tags & Pot Pads !

The Write & Erase Plant Tags came with 6 silver steel planting stakes and 6 write and erase plant tags. They have 2 sets of tags a Botanical series and an Herbal series. I recieved the Botanical series.  The tags are UV treated for year round use outside.

They come in this nice little case for storing!

I stuck a few in a pot to give you an idea of what they look like!

I used plant tag near my Pineapple Sage, just in case the Nasturtiums bury it!

As you can see 1 joined the garlic as well.

I really like these plant tags. When writing on the tags it requests that you use a Gel Ink ball point pen. They do erase when using soap and water. Which to me is a plus, this way I can move these throughout my garden and use them over and over again. Waste is not something I like to do in my garden. I look forward to using these again year after year. The steel planting sticks are very thick and sturdy.

The next product I tested out are the Pot Pads! I recieved a package of 4 in Colbalt Blue. They also come in packs of 12 and multiple other colors.

The blue part lays on the ground and the black grips to the bottom of the pot. The Pot Pads are useful in many ways. It enables plant aeration & drainage. Prevents deck rot & staining. Protects plants from bug infestation. These Pot Pads can also hold up to 3000 pounds! You are able to slide your pots along your deck without scratching. You can also use these indoors. They are like furniture movers for your pots! I thought these were great. I tested them by pulling large pots across my patio. They didnt slip out from underneath the pot, and they didnt leave marks! I especially like how they raise the pots about an inch off the ground.

I used Pot Pads under this Terra Cotta pot. See how it raises the pots of the ground. Now when I overwater, the extra water can drain into the herb garden behind it. No more wasting water for me!

The pots sitting on the Pot Pads are not wobbly. I pushed on them to test them and they stay still. Hopefully they will stand the test of animals. I will keep you posted.

Suprise Bulb.... Cant wait to see what it may be...

Everyday I take a little stroll around my backyard to see whats new! Since I am still recovering from surgery, I am not allowed to bend over, pull weeds or garden! No gardening, I know I know. It's crazy talk, but it's true! As I was staring at my herb garden, sitting on the bricks that surround it (I promise I wasnt pulling weeds, Ok maybe 3 or 4) I was kinda running my fingers through the dirt. I like to feel the texture of dirt! It's one of my wierd likes. As I was playing with my dirt, I found some strange looking little bulbs, possibly something that was growing there before. I have no idea what they are!

Picture is a little blury! I wasnt sure how I should plant them. It looks like 5 little bulbs attached to a big bulb. I am still learning about bulbs, so I have very little knowledge.

I decided to break 2 little bulbs off and plant them in some nice composted soil.

I then planted the remaining cluster the same way! Covered them with dirt and put them under my grow lights with the rest of my seedlings!

I am not sure if they will grow! I decided to take a chance anyway! The only thing I remeber being in the spot where I found these was a Mum, I think!

Does anyone know what they may be? If nobody knows, I guess I will have to be suprised if they make an appearence.

Fun thing about gardening, it's like a box of chocolates.....You never know what you might get!

Sprouts here, Sprouts there and a little of the garden!

Many things are sprouting In my Garden Spot or Spots I should say! Here is a little of whats going on. This will be my last post for a couple of weeks! I am having major surgery tomorrow on march 16th. I am hoping all will go well and I will be back in the garden as soon as possible! After all, who has time for nasty masses of cancer and hernias. There's Gardening to be done! If I cant Garden I simply wont be happy!

Heres a small garden bed I started! It has mystery bulbs I recieved for free! Im anxious to see what they will be! I wasnt going to pass up free bulbs. I only got about 40 planted and theres so many more to plant.

Here is some more of those bulbs, they are sitting in a huge plastic tote. I havent even gone halfway through the bin. Theres alot!

Heres some that were already sprouting! I have no idea what they are!

These are some I planted today! Had to get my last garden fix! No Gardening for 6 weeks! I hope I can find the will power to not play in the dirt!

This little bundle of Sage managed to find life again after winter! I will just leave it be and grow away!

The Radishes are off to a good start! Anyone willing to come over and thin them out for me!

Turnips are also emerging! Those will be needing thinning out too!

Brocolli is growing strong! Found a snail sneaking in, so hopefully the eggshells will scare those pesky snails away!

Curly Parsley and Garlic Chives lookin good together growing side by side!

I love, love , love Swiss Chard! 1 packet has really gone far in my Garden this year! I will plant this the rest of my gardening years!

The Arugula, Italian Mix Lettuce and Gourmet Blend Mix are also making their appearance! This is my second batch of mixed lettuces that im growing!

I hope everyone has great gardening adventures and I cant wait to read about them when I am home again.

Im Seed crazy!

I think I have gone Seed crazy!

 Everywhere I go, seed racks are calling out to me! They say grow me!

 How can I refuse. Gardening is a wonderful and fun way to bring healthy foods into your home for your family! This year by far will be my largest Garden ever, and I am so excitied! By the end of summer I will have no lawn left! It will be all edible! I took a few pictures of the packets I already have on hand! I have more coming from Blogger/Twitter friends and a couple of catolog orders for those hard to find unique seeds! Enjoy my future bounty! I am salavating at the thought of summer.
