Apple Chips = Natures Candy

Its Apple Season!

We made our annual trip to Apple Hill and loaded up on apples!
One of the first things we like to make are Apple Chips!

First we core the Apples! Some we remove skin and we leave skin on some as well. No skin is for the picky Kiddos in the house. The skin on ones are for me! I slice them up. Some I leave in big circles and also cut some of the circles in half. I just mix it up a bit. You can make them plain or add a little sweetness.

In a small bowl I combine:

1 cup of sugar.
2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon.
1 teaspoon of nutmeg.
I mix them all up really well and sprinkle over the cut up apple.
I place my apple slices in the food dehydrator until they are crispy yet pliable. Usually about 8-10 hours.

Apple chips are so yummy!
Happy Eating!

  1. Jenn,
It is the apple season here too, and I have been thinking a lot about home-grown apples.
I really like the sound of these apple chips, much more healthier than those savoury packet ones.

Everytime I see recipes like these, the more I am convinced that I want a dehydrator. Something for the Birthday or Christmas list I think.

  3. Hi Jenn,
Your recipe sounds delicious! I love dehydrating too. I like to dry my little crab apples for decorations. I slice them (without coring them) and when they are dry, I tie them onto holiday packages. They look so cute and smell good too.

I will have to try your recipe next!
