What a day! Just spent 6 hours in the Garden! I worked my tail off! I had this old frame in the backyard from a day bed, the trundel that goes underneath. Instead of taking it to the dump, i decided I would use it my Garden somehow. So, my son David and I cleaned out an excisting garden bed that was takin over by Ice Plants! Those things were everywhere. So were the Snails. We got rid of those lil critters. We got it all cleaned out and the soil was fabulous! It was a nice rich black, full of half composted leaves from the near by Wysteria bush. So we played in the soil and added some Rabbit poo and gave it a lil Top soil and mixed it up. Then we took a lil break, it was hot! So we got a drink and a lil snack. Then we added the the frame and secured it to the fence (dont want it to fall on anyone, its heavy) After that process, we planted the 5 Pumkin plants we had started from seed a few weeks ago. So heres how my idea will hopefully work! As i start getting vines from the plants i plan to weave them through the bed frame. As the pumkins start to grow im going to put them in lil mesh type bags and tie them to the frame as they grow. Ive seen similar ideas in books and TV shows. Im hoping this works. I have a few pics of what we have done and accomplished. I will post another lil blog as it grows and Pumpkins begin to grow. All in all it was a happy day in the lil garden spot!
I love supports and trellises. Great way to get creative!
