Garden Goodies!

Finally!!!

My First Black Krim Tomato!
It was so good, we ate it on the spot!

Hansel Eggplants, multiple Beans, Yellow Sunburst Squash, Cucumbers and some Figs from our tree.
Some of what we have picked from the garden in the past couple of days.

We are also getting Shady Lady Tomatos and Orange Cherry Tomatos. We also have Red onion and garlic we harvested. I just forgot to take pictures.

This week I have made Eggplant Parmisian, Fried Squash, Pizza sauce and then we made pizzas using veggies from the garden. Its been a fun week in the garden. The way things are growing and the how much we are harvesting, its time to pull out all the canning stuff and start canning the garden.

So far our total pounds of food from our garden is 12.6 pounds.

How is your garden growing?
Are you harvesting yummy goodness yet?

Happy Gardening my Friends!!!

~Sugar Plum & Fig Jam~

Sugar Plums & Figs. Intresting combination you say! It works, it was yummy! I had a few of each and didnt want them to go to waste. So why not create something I had never had before!
I decided I was going to make freezer jam! Chopped everything up and threw it in a bowl and let the flavors mesh for a about 20 minutes.
I added the necesary ingridents and I had freezer jam! I was happy with how it turned out. First time I used figs or plums!
Here the final product!

Climbing the fence and into the tree for Crab Apples

Today, We climbed a ladder and stood on a fence and picked Crab Apples! My son the daredevil was quick to offer his services. He loves to climb trees. As he scaled the fence and into the tree, he picked the Crab Apples. He said to me, I didnt even know we could eat these!
My Little one stood on the ladder as I supervised closely, to collect the Crab Apples.
Her job was most important! She had to put the Crab Apples into the basket. She wanted to be on the fence too! That was so NOT happening!
We got about 15 Crab Apples into this basket. Should be enough to make some Crab Apple Jelly. Which we will make this weekend.
Even are Chickens enjoyed a Crab Apple feast! They got all the Crab Apples with worms and holes. They clucked happily as they tore those Crab Apples apart! One of my hens kept taking them and running away. I should have named her greedy, she never wants to share! I can still hear them clucking away!
We have had a fun Afternoon! We also got some Figs from the Fig tree!
Not too many, maybe more next year! I will add these with the Sugar plums and make some Jelly!
Happy Gardening!
